Improvements to Feeds

Zootechnology has developed remarkably over the past decades, moving from being primarily a rural occupation to being that of large enterprises designed to obtain maximum possible profit while reducing costs. Today, animal feed has to be manufactured with great care to include the greatest number of nutrients possible in small quantities of feed. Controlling the feed quality, implementing monitoring procedures to ensure the absence of toxins, degraded lipids, pathogens or parasites are indispensable factors to minimise the presence of in the chain of production to the table.

Eurofeed’s feed additives are specially designed to meet this goal: they can sanitise the feed, prevent contamination by microorganisms and the degradation of lipids (this is of special importance for high energy content feeds like feeds for weaning, milk substitutes and aquaculture feeds, but also domestic animal feed).

Feed
protection

Feeds are the principal vehicle by which pathogens can enter animals’ bodies. It only needs a single microorganism present in the feed to start a systemic infection, beginning in the intestines. If not properly controlled, animal feed can also carry some toxins which, once they are in the body, can cause serious problems like inhibiting growth and increasing in FCR (Feed Conversion Rate). The availability of safe feed is of extreme importance for ensuring uninterrupted animal growth, especially at the beginning of their lives.

Lysozyma
Natural antimicrobial enzyme which prevents the spread of pathogens, reducing contamination by endotoxins. Produced in powder or liquid form.

Mouldcontrol
Mixture of acidifiers and their salts which inhibits the growth of moulds, fungi and disactivates spores preventing their spread. Produced in powder or liquid form.

Salcontrol
Mixture of acidifiers and their salts which inhibits the growth of moulds, fungi and disactivates spores preventing their spread. Produced in powder or liquid form.

Unobind
Natural binder for pellets which improve their quality while simultaneously reducing dust. Produced in dry form.

Rendering products

Recycling by-products is an ethical and financial imperative and the conservation of their nutritional value is of maximum importance. In the rendering business raw materials are subjected to very high temperatures to separate the lipidic fraction from the other components. This can provoke the initiation of processes of oxidation and rancidification and thus lower the quality of the finished product. Long periods of storage can encourage the spread of pathogenic microorganisms which therefore have to be eradicated.

Eurofeed’s feed additives are designed to maximise the efficiency of rendering plants, ensuring the making of quality products without pathogens.

Oxy line
A line of natural or synthetic antioxidants which reduce oxidation and rancidification of lipids thus increasing their storage time. Made in liquid form.

Avisal
Especially designed for preventive treatment of feeds and raw materials against contamination and recontamination by Salmonella and other bacterial pathogens. Composed of a mix of propionic acid (used in the food industry during the process of preparation and storage), formic acid (used as antibacterial agent to block the fermentation processes), and phosphoric acid (used to balance the acidity of feed and raw materials).

Duo Prevention

A product devised for the treatment of raw materials susceptible to producing putrid odours, rancidification and decomposition like meat and fish meal and butchery by-products.  Lactic acid is present in the mix (used as acidifier, preservative and flavouring or during the packaging process to improve shelf-life and inhibit the growth of bacterial colonies), phosphoric acid (used to adjust acidity and inhibit bacterial growth).

Managing
toxins

There are often contaminant elements in feeds such as moulds which, during their growth release metabolites (mycotoxins) which can compromise animal health. Eurofeed’s mycotoxin and additives are designed to eradicate mould and fungi before they can generate toxins, eradicate pathogenic microorganisms, or reduce their effects.

Toxins can also be found in animal intestines through the release of harmful metabolites by intestinal pathogens (endotoxins) or because of the death of positive microorganisms, which, by leaving fragments of cell wall in the intestines, can cause adverse reactions. Additives in this case act to remove toxins and reduce their effects.

Mycosal
An active effective binder on many mycotoxins, reducing their harmful effects. Produced in powder form.

Stop Tox
Binder for mycotoxins in combination with antimould. Reduces contamination by fungi in feed. Produced in powder form.
